Snovitra XL is an effective oral treatment for erectile dysfunction. It contains 60mg of the active ingredient Vardenafil, which belongs to the drug glass called PDE5 inhibitors. All drugs belonging to this drug class have the same mechanism of action – they block the enzyme PDE5 to increase levels of cGMP which causes the penile muscles to relax thereby improving blood flow to the penis as a response to sexual stimulation.

Before taking Snovitra XL, a physician must be consulted to get the proper dosage of this drug. Taking a tablet of Snovitra XL will not produce an erection on its own. Sexual stimulation is needed to start the natural process or erection and assist the drug in delivering its action.
The usual adult dose of Vardenafil is 10mg as an initial dose, about 30 minutes to 1 hour before sexual activity. This drug must be taken only as needed. A physician may adjust the dose depending on the drug’s efficacy and patient’s response.
A tablet of Snovitra XL must be taken orally, swallowed whole with a glassful of water. The tablet may be taken with or without food, although high-fat meals may delay the effects of the drug. It is best taken on an empty stomach or after a low-fat meal. Intake of Snovitra XL must not exceed one tablet per day with 24 hours apart from the next dose, as the drug is not intended for daily use.
Men allergic to the tablet’s active ingredient Vardenafil and the inactive ingredients must not use Snovitra XL. Also, men advised to avoid sexual activity because of health reasons must also avoid taking Snovitra XL.
This medication is also contraindicated to the following health conditions:
- Severe liver and kidney problems
- Degenerative eye problems
- Severe heart problems
- Abnormally high or low blood pressure
- History of irregular heartbeat
- Recent heart attack, stroke, or life-threatening irregular heartbeat in the past 6 months
Snovitra XL must not be used if patient is taking nitrates, recreational drugs containing nitrates, other PDE5 inhibitors as it may cause a serious drop in blood pressure.
Each patient will have a different response to the drug. Some may experience no side effects at all, while others experience mild to even severe side effects.
Snovitra XL may cause these common side effects that usually go away after some time:
- Stuffy or runny nose
- Upset stomach
Use of Snovitra XL must be stopped and healthcare providers must be notified immediately, if any of these serious side effects occur:
- Memory loss
- Vision changes
- sudden decrease or loss of vision
- sudden decrease or loss of hearing
- severe allergic reaction with symptoms of hives; rash; itching, difficult breathing; swelling of mouth, face, lips, tongue or throat
- symptoms of heart attack include pain in chest, shoulder, neck, or jaw; numbness of arm or leg; severe dizziness; fainting; vision changes
- symptoms of stroke include confusion; changes in speech and vision; one-sided weakness; fainting
A painful erection or an erection that lasts more than 4 hours and won’t go away even after sexual activity, also require immediate medical attention. Ignoring this side effect may lead to further damage to the penis.
Warnings and Precautions
Before taking Snovitra XL, a patient must first inform the healthcare provider if the following health conditions apply:
- deformed or injured penis
- eye condition that may cause vision loss
- hearing problems
- low blood pressure
- liver and kidney problems
- blood cell problem
- conditions that increase risk of priapism
- abnormal blood pressure
- lung problems
- bleeding problems
- blood vessel problems
- heart problems
- history of heart attack, stroke and long QT syndrome
The health conditions above may interact with Vardenafil. The drug may also interact with other medications such as:
- medicines for blood pressure
- antiarrhythmic drugs
- azole antifungals
- macrolide antibiotics
- HIV protease inhibitors
Driving and performing unsafe tasks must be avoided until one knows how the body responds to the medication.
This drug is not intended to be used by women and children.
Snovitra XL and Alcohol
Drinking alcohol must be avoided while taking Snovitra XL for it may increase the risk of having side effects or might make side effects worse.
Snovitra XL and Grapefruit
Grapefruit and grapefruit juice has certain chemical content that increase the level of Vardenafil in the blood. This may increase the risk of side effects; therefore, it is best to avoid the combination.
